1. Attach the thread to the hook behind the eye. |
2. Lay a thread foundation towards the bend of the hook. Once you are past the middle of the shank, secure a piece of Gold Tinsel to the hook shank at a 45 degree angle facing the rear of the hook. |
3. Wrap the tinsel with touching wraps about a third of the wary down the bend. Now wrap back to where you tied in the material and secure with thread wraps. This is your tag. |
4. Secure the rear hackle by the base with fibers removed at the bend of the hook. The hackle should be sized for the hook. Note that the hackle is positioned just above the beginning of the barb when the thread hangs down. |
5. Wrap 5-6 times that are tightly spaced. Trim off the tag end and secure with thread wraps. |
6.Attach three Peacock Herls by their tips to the shank. Anchor the herl with thread wraps all along the area that you expect to wrap as a herl body. Bring the thread up as close to the rear hackle as possible without capturing hackle fibers. |
7. Wrap the herl around the thread and bring the reinforced peacock forward to about the 2/3 shank postion. Secure with thread wraps and trim off the excess herl. |
8. Attach the front hackle. This should be 1-2 sizes larger than the rear hackle. Secure the base of the hackle just behind the eye with thread wraps. |
9. Wrap 5-6 turns and secure the tag end with thread wraps. |
10. Trim off the tag end of the hackle and secure with some additional thread wraps. Whip Finish. |
