The Lower Owens 5 has a healthy population of Rainbows and Browns as well as Smallmouth Bass.  The streambank have a heavy concentration of Tule reed making access difficult. Many prefer to use a raft or drift boat to fish this stretch. Wading is not recommended when flows exceed 300 cfs. Flows tend to increase in May and flow above 300 cfs until August.
