Notes: Buckeye Creek begins in the Hoover Wilderness and travels about 15 miles to the Bridgeport Reservoir. The creek contains Brookies, Browns, and Rainbows. After plunging eastward, the creek arrives in Big Meadow and slows down, meandering through the meadow and passing through large boulders that have worked their way doen the canyon. Buckeye campground and Buckeye Hot Springs are at the eastern edge of this meadow. The campground area gets heavily planted with Rainbows up to 3 lbs. on a weekly schedule through summer. Brookies, 7-10 inches, will be found above the campground with a trail that follows the creek. The creek is lined by willows the first mile above the campground and become less dense the further upstream you go another two miles. About three miles above the campground, the creek meanders through the Big Meadow valley with deepcut grassy banks and deep pools. Browns can be found near the undercut banks. Within the upper reaches of Buckeye Creek in Big Meadow are beaver ponds with both Rainbows and Browns. Downstream of the Hot Springs, Buckeye Creek enters private ranch land within Bridgeport Valley and the creek is used for irrigation purposes leaving a trickle to enter Bridgeport Reservoir.
