Lower Peppermint Campground32 miles NE of California Hot Springs. From the town of Lake Isabella, drive 35 miles north on Burlando Road and Sierra Way to the town of Johnsondale. Turn right (north) on Forest Service Road 22S82 (Lloyd Meadow Road) and drive about 14 miles on a paved road to the campground. Elevation 5300 feet. 17 Tent Sites. $10.00 per night. Peppermint Campground16 miles SE of Camp Nelson via SR 190. Elevation: 7100 feet. 19 tent sites. From Porterville, drive 34 miles east on Highway 190 to Camp Nelson. Continue about 15 miles southeast on Highway 190 to the entrance road. Fire rings and picnic tables are provided. Vault toilets are available. There is no piped water, so bring your own. Limestone CampgroundJust below the Johnson Bridge. From Kernville, drive 19 miles north on Kern River Highway-Sierra Way Road. Open April to November. This is a small camp along the Kern River, set deep in the Sequoia National Forest at 3,800 feet. It is advisable to obtain a Forest Service map, which details the back roads. A mile to the west, South Creek Falls provides a possible side trip. 22 sites. Fire grills and picnic tables are provided. Vault toilets are available. There is no piped water, so bring your own. $24.00 per night, $7.00 for additional vehicle. Not on reservation system. Pets are permitted on leashes. South Fork CampgroundSouth Fork has 13 tent sites at an elevation of 2650 feet. From Visalia, drive to Three Rivers on Highway 198. In Three Rivers, turn east on South Fork Road and drive 13 miles to the campground. Cold Springs CampgroundCold Springs has 40 tent sites at an elevation of 7,500 feet. From Visalia, take Highway 198 to Three Rivers. Continue to drive three miles north on Highway 198. Turn right (east) on Mineral King Road and drive 25 miles to the campground. Picnic tables, fire grills and piped water are provided. Pit toilets are available. Ranger programs in July & August. Horseback riding available 1 mile (1.6km) away; 2-1/2 miles (4km) from Silver City Resort with restaurant, gifts, supplies, gasoline & showers. Water is turned off in mid-October. Buckeye Flat CampgroundIn the foothills along the Middle Fork of the Kaweah River, 4 miles (6km) from Sequoia Park entrance & 12 miles (19km) from Giant Forest. Lodgepole CampgroundAt 6700-foot (2042m) elevation along the Marble Fork of the Kaweah River, 2 miles (3km) from the Giant Forest sequoia grove; 21 miles from Sequoia Park entrance. From Fresno, take HIGHWAY 180 east to King’s Canyon, follow signs to Sequoia National Park. From Visalia, take HIGHWAY 198 east into Sequoia and follow signs to Lodgepole Campground. $20 from May-September, then $18 first-come, first-served. 214 sites, flush toilets, RV disposal station, summer ranger programs, pay phone.
