Dead Drift Crayfish
This is a pattern design by fishing guide and Umpqua Fly Designer Tim Haddon. Tim guides on the Truckee River and came up with this pattern in the late 1990’s.
It was inspired by Ralph Cutter’s Goblin bugger-type streamer and utilized some softer materials such as Rabbit strips to give the pattern flow and life as a dead drift object. The pattern has been a big success on the Truckee with Rainbow and Brown Trout dredging the bottom but works well as a Bass fly, too.
