Tying Instructions
1. Place 6 wraps of lead near the head.
2. Tie in Marabou tail, length about same as the hook length.
3. Attach a Burnt Orange Hackle just in front of the wingcase tie down at the tip. Tie in a copper wire ribbing next to the Burnt Orange hackle tie down.
4.Tie in Olive Marabou at the base of the tail for the wingcase. Marabou should be anchored at the tips.
5. Apply the olive dubbing to the thread.
6. Dub a body forward to just behind the eye.
7. Wrap the Burnt Orange Hackle forward over the dubbed body to about one eye length behind the eye.
8. Wrap the copper wire ribbing forward and tie down in the same location. Trim off the upper hackle fibers
9. Bring the Marabou wingcase over the body and tie down.
10. Create a head with thread wraps and whip finish.

Denny Rickards
Denny’s Stillwater Nymph
Denny’s Stillwater Nymph was developed by Denny Rickards of Fort Klamath, Oregon during the 1980’s. Denny specializes in fishing lakes throughout the West for trophy trout. The Stillwater Nymph is generally used with a slow hand twist retrieval using a clear intermediate line or 5-7 foot clear sink-tip. It is particularly useful as a damsel nymph pattern.
The long, but thin, marabou tail provides at strong attraction or movement to the fly. Denny also likes to use Crawdad Orange hackle for many of his flies. This coloration is a strong attractant to many trout within a stillwater setting. Due to the color variations between the tail, wingcase, and body, Denny identifies these color variations by a designated number. He sells these flies off his website at: Flyfishingstillwaters .
