I like to call this region, “A Fly Fisher’s Paradise”. This is the area I cut my teeth as a fly fisher. The region has probably the finest “Spring Creek” in the Sierra Nevada with the Upper Owens River, the finest lake fishing in Crowley Lake, and a superb backcountry with most lakes and streams having great fishing.
The city of Mammoth Lakes provides all the amenities you might require in services, food, and lodging. There are a multitude of RV camping and a few great fly shops.
Stop by the Forest Service Visitor Center in Mammoth Lakes to get overnight permits for most of the backcountry trails.
