Tying Instructions: Gray's Hexagenia Nymph




	1.Lay a thread foundation along the shank ending at the bend of the hook.
	2. Select three Ostrich Herls with their tips even. Measure the tips for length, they should be about 3/4 the shank length. Attach at the bend of the hook to the top of the shank. Secure the tag end to the shank about midway.
	3. Clip off the tag ends of the Ostrich Herl and resecure them to the top of the hook at the midshank. Place a Gold Wire ribbing to the bottom of the shank and secure with thread wraps going back to the bend of the hook.
	4. Dub a tapered body from the tail tie-in position to just beyond the midshank.
	5. Bring the Ostrich herls over the top of the body and secure with thread wraps. Next, wrap the ribbing forward with about 5 spirol turns and secure with thread wraps.
	6. Clip a small amount of deer hair from the hide and remove the underfur. Secure the hair to the hook shank just in front of the body with thread wraps. Take care to keep the hair on top of the hook shank and not roll to the side as you secure the butt ends. Do not crowd the eye, leave about an eye width of shank behind the eye to anchor the mono eyes.
	7. Attach the mono eyes about an eye width behind the eye with figure eight wraps. A couple of horizontal wraps underneath the eyes will cinch the figure eight wraps tightly. Bring your thread back to just in front of the body.
	8. Secure a strand of Long Shank by the thread core to the hook shank. Then, apply some additional dubbing to the thorax area.
	9. Wrap the Long Shank about three times and secure with thread wraps behind the eye. Then, attach a strand of Short Shank material by the core below the mono eyes and wrap two more times behind the eyes. Secure with thread wraps in front of the eyes and trim the tag end.
	10. Bring the Deer Hair over the Thorax and secure with thread wraps in front of the eyes.
	11. Trim off the ends of the hair and secure the hair with additional thread wraps behind the eye. Whip Finish.
