Description
#2 Metz Half Neck hackle is ideal for tying dry flies in a wide range of sizes from 10 to 22. Perfect coloration, web-free hackle fibers and extremely long feathers are some of the features that took years of selective breeding to achieve. The Half Necks include the shoulder and the spade hackles. Try these hackles on dries such as the Bivisible Dun, Hackle Stacker, and Catskill Dries.
Metz Half Necks were developed in 1972 at Belleville, PA by Robert “Buck” Metz Jr. Metz Hackles were the first genetically engineered hackles for the fly tying industry. Buck Metz first learned of fly tying from the legendary George Harvey. Being a poultry farmer, Buck realized that the hackles needed to be longer and more supple. Metz started with Blue Andalusian stock that he received from Andy Miner. By the 1980’s Metz was an industry standard for high quality hackles and consistent colorations.
