Moonlit Floating Sink Tip Lines

The Moonlit Floating Sink Tip Fly Lines are designed and made with a floating line and integrated sink tip with varying sink rates so you can fine tune it with your application.  Each sink rate will allow you to fish at different depths, with different flies, and better target specific species of fish, or types of water.  Each different Sink Tip is color coordinated so if you have multiple tips you can tell which is which based off of color.  If you forget, the lines are also laser engraved to help you identify your line as well.  It is constructed with a PVC coating, and a 25lb low stretch braided core.  This gives this line the a slick coating for smooth casting, and performance.  The low stretch is important for strike detection.  These lines all come in a 4wt through 8wt.

S1 Sink Tip Features

• The Intermediate is a S1 Sink rate or 1.5 to 2.5 ips (fishing depth of 1-2 feet).  This is ideal for fishing for trout, bass, or panfish over shallow beds.
• Dark Olive Head/Olive Running Line

S3 Sink Tip Features

• The S3 Tip has a sink rate of 2.5-4.0ips (fishing depth of 3-7 feet).  This line will help get your fly into the fishes feeding zone quickly, effectively, and uniformly.
• Grey Head/Olive Running Line

S5 Sink Tip Features

• The S5 Tip has a 4.5-6.0 ips ( fishing depth of 15-20 feet)  This is the ideal line to use when fishing deep lakes, or fast moving bodies of water.
• Black Head/Olive running line

 

Leader Recommendations

When fishing with this line it is important to pair the proper leader setup.  Having the proper setup will ensure the greatest amount of success.  When you are trying to get your fly down into the feeding zone quickly you want to use a shorter leader.  We recommend using the Moonlit HOGzilla Leader for fishing streamers, and or nymphs.  It is made of fluorocarbon with a reinforced core, and its short length will give you a good uniform sink between fly, leader, and line.  If you are swinging wet flies and soft hackles, and nymphs I would recommend the Moonlit Big Hog Leader, constructed of polyester thread and fluorocarbon core.  Its length and core make it a perfect pair for utilizing the sink tip to help get your fly into the feeding zone with accuracy, precision, control, and effectiveness.  You can use a straight 5-7 ft of straight fluorocarbon line as your leader as well, or a tapered fluorocarbon leader no longer than 7 1/2 ft leader.
