Rite Ceramic Shorty Bobbin

Description

The Rite Ceramic Shorty Bobbin was designed and manufactured by Mr. Bill Merg, a master fly tier and Mechanical Engineer in 1991 out of Sunnyvale, CA. It is currently made in Nye, Montana by Lyle Graff. The “Shorty” is 1″ shorter than the Standard and was designed for tiny flies or smaller hands. However, many tiers with large hands swear by this bobbin. It has a ceramic thread tube and a removable Vinyl Grip. The arm is solid brass with a “click” drag adjustment creating 1-9 oz. of thread tension. Considered one of the most versatile of all fly tying bobbins. The Rite Ceramic Shorty Bobbin accepts all standard thread spools.
