South Fork Kern 5

Description

South Fork Kern 5 covers the water of Monache Meadow. Shows camping areas, trails, and creeks. Special Features are the Hatch Chart, Fish Identification, Fishing Season and Regulations, and Stream Etiquette guidelines. Most enter Monache Meadows through the Granite Knob trailhead, a distance of 6.5 miles.

The South Fork Kern 5 contains both Browns and Golden-Hybrids. Genetic Studies have shown that the Golden Hybrids within Monache Meadows have a 70:30 mix with Rainbow genes. The hybridization occurred due to Rainbows that were planted within the SF Kern over the last 70 years.
