Upper Kings Region 1&2

Description

Upper Kings Region 1&2 covers the Kings River between Kirch Flat Campground and Garlic Falls. Google Terrain image showing topographical features. Sections of the river were identified with the assistance of Central Sierra Fly Fishing Adventures. Local guides, Fred Ramirez and Phil Davis, provided the location and names of specific sections with corresponding river structure. Also included is a hatch chart, mileage markers, road access, Nymphing rigs, Catch & Release Procedures, Campgrounds, Stream Etiquette, and Fishing Regulations.

From Kirch Flat to Garnet Dike Campground is open year round, no restrictions on tackle and a 2 trout limit. Above Garnet Dike Campground the Kings River is a Wild Trout stream, Catch & Release only, Barbless hooks. The trout tend to be larger in Upper Kings Region 1&2 with riffle water, long runs, and deep pools. Browns are usually 18-20″ and Rainbows 14-15″.
