Flashabou is crimped horizontally to produce lateral scale. The crimped Mirage flashabou catches light and produces an opalescence sheen. This Lateral Scale material is thinner than normal flash and is designed to be used one piece at a time on either side of your fly. This re-creates the lateral line found on most fish and as this material is thinner, it is ideal for use on smaller baitfish patterns.
This material is highly versatile in its fly tying uses and is not limited to only being used for imitating lateral lines on your flies. It can be used for a wide variety of other uses on many other styles and patterns.
